Mentoring is a key component of the “I Have a Dream Foundation” model
In the Inspire the Dream! Mentoring Program, Dreamer Scholars are matched with long-term, reliable, supportive, and caring adults who provide individualized guidance and connection and serve as positive role models. The mentoring program not only provides Dreamer Scholars with the tools and resources they need to succeed but also fosters meaningful relationships that can last a lifetime. The impact of mentoring can be significant and long-lasting.
Group Mentoring
Beyond the traditional 1:1 mentoring, IHDFNJ offers academic group mentoring and emphasizes building relationships with 5 Dreamer Scholars during their mentoring sessions. Group mentors have the opportunity to create a sense of community through activities such as arts and crafts, academic support, and gardening and many more!
Academic Mentoring
Through our Academic Mentoring Program, our scholars receive academic intervention during the day-school and after-school programming. Dreamers Scholars are matched with a mentor who provides 1:1 academic mentoring for an academic year. Mentors use phonics approaches and guided reading to build literacy skills and a love of reading.
